THE TEXEL GROUP NATURE PARK

The Texel Group Nature Park with its 33,430 hectares is the largest park in South Tyrol. Almost all of Alta Passiria is located inside this natural park. It is a varied and well-equipped hiking area, a favourite place for those who love walking, excursions, climbing and nature. From May to October the local Tourist Board provides free excursions to the Texel Group Nature Park twice a week, with an expert alpine guide.

STIEBER WATERFALL

The reconstructed path that leads to the Stieber waterfall offers a breathtaking view over the falling water masses. The Rio Plan falls into the Passirio torrent with two waterfalls, the first one is 19 metres high and the second is 18 metres high. The Stieber waterfall has another amazing view from Stulles, where two waterfalls make two jumps of 112 and 230 metres respectively.

PASSIRIO GORGE: THE WATER THAT GIVES LIFE TO THE VALLEY

This exciting tour through the Passirio Gorge originates in Moso in Passiria. Between rock giants and wooded areas, the path winds directly along the river bank where the Passirio River flows placidly through basins and imposing rocks. Thanks to an ambitious project, it is now possible to access this beauty, which over the years has been shaped by the power of the Passirio stream. Over the years it has carved its way through the rocks to give life to surprising formations, vortexes and whirlpools. The path that runs along the river is lined with benches and information stele, but there are few in order to enjoy the spectacle that nature offers.

Excursions in nature: peace, silent and fresh air

Come and try the beautiful walks among the alpine pastures of the hiking area around Plan, surrounded by the view of the impressive peaks of 2,000 and 3,000 metre.
There is no better place to relax than on the paths in this fairy tale setting. Panoramic hikes in mountain pastures, summit hikes or around the lake - in Val di Plan, the offer covers every need and condition.

Winter sports: having fun on the snow

A magical winter view awaits for you at Plan for a perfect skiing holiday. The snow covered skiing area has everything to delight skiers: slopes suitable for all levels of difficulty, modern ski-lifts and much more. There are also winter hiking trails, snowshoeing, cross-country skiing and many other pleasant activities for the whole family.

THE MONTENEVE MINE

Above Passo del Rombo at an altitude of 2,355 metres lies the highest mine in Europe, the Monteneve Mine.
From 1200 to 1967, silver and lead were mined without interruption. Every week, expert guides organize excursions into the tunnels bring visitors closer to the vertiginous world of the mountains.

LIVING MUSEUM

The MuseoPassiria Andreas Hofer together with the San Martino, San Leonardo and Alta Passiria Tourist Boards organise interactive performances.
Several times a year there is a theme day which from time to time and for a few hours bring back each of the different forms of traditional craftsmanship and rural life. Participants in the representations of the “Living Museum” can try their hand at spinning wool, shaping loaves of bread, felting, sewing shoes and forging iron with the help of experts.

THE MUSEOPASSIRIA ANDREAS HOFER

The MuseoPassiria is located in the Sandhof Inn in San Leonardo.
Visitors on one hand can find everything about the hero Andreas Hofer, for example documentaries, videos, original exhibits etc; on the other hand find out about the folklore in Val Passiria: customs, habits, arts, traditions, peasant life, transport, crafts etc.

The French cemetery, Jaufenburg, and Pfistrad-Alm are all branches of the museum.
